About Michael Daly
Michael Daly is a Minnesota watercolour artist. He was raised in Duluth, Minnesota on the tip of Lake Superior and studied with Cheng-Khee Chee at the University of Minnesota, Duluth and at the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Art in Hangzhou, China. His unique artistic style combines the discipline of Chinese brushwork with American expressionism and an amazing use of color.
He was one of a small group who originally created the artists’ community in Lowertown St Paul over 25 years ago and is still there. He does almost all of his work in the open air at his cabin on Lake Minnesuing in northern Wisconsin. His landscapes capture the spirit and beauty of the woods and lakes which surround this idyllic spot. His flower pieces are full of color and joy and his abstracts have an energy and depth which has captivated many collectors over the years.
